Exploration activity at many of the world's biggest publicly traded oil companies is picking up in 2017 without any increase in spending, according to Tudor Pickering Holt. The companies are getting more wells for less due to lower rig rates and other falling costs, and the strategic decision to move away from "extremely challenging environments," Tudor Pickering says. Total (FP.FR) plans 40% more wells in 2017 even as the company plans to cut spending.
